A dental bridge is a restoration that lets us replace a missing tooth. It also preserves your facial profile, aesthetics, and prevents excessive wear on other teeth throughout your mouth.
Each dental bridge uses an artificial tooth that looks just like the real thing. It is suspended across the open space in your mouth, and anchored onto the adjacent teeth. Bridges can also be placed on top of [dental implants]. Dr. C prefers to use porcelain dental bridges as these are highly function as well as blend in with your smile.
Your Treatment Experience
Most bridge treatments take two visits to our Hackensack dental office. During the first visit, Dr. C will prep the supporting teeth and take an impression. We use this to create a custom fitted and designed bridge that is ready to be permanently bonded in place within about two weeks.
Caring For Your Dental Bridge
Your prosthesis should last for years to come, with the expert craftsmanship involved in preparing and designing your new bridge. With good oral hygiene, you can prolong the life of your restoration by…
- Gently brushing your restoration twice a day
- Flossing daily with a floss threader or water flosser, being mindful to clean underneath your bridge
- Cleaning around the surrounding teeth or dental implant, to prevent gum disease
Not only is it important to keep your bridge as clean as possible when you’re at home, it’s vital to continue that care by visiting our dental office regularly.
When you schedule an appointment to see us every 6 months, you’ll enjoy a professional cleaning, exam and assessment of your bridge. By maintaining optimal oral health, you can avoid dental complications down the road.
