Wisdom Teeth Extractions in Hackensack
Some people never have problems with their wisdom teeth coming in, while other people do. A lot of it has to depend on the anatomy of your mouth and whether or not there is room for the wisdom tooth to erupt properly. Even then, wisdom teeth can be difficult to keep clean and may become easily infected.
Common reasons why we recommend removing wisdom teeth may include:
- Teeth that are impacted
- Pain and swelling
- Crowding of the other teeth
- Infection, decay or gum disease
Eliminate Pain Caused by Wisdom Teeth
Dr. C can help you manage discomfort caused by wisdom teeth. In some cases he also performs certain types of wisdom teeth extractions here in our office.
To have you or your child’s wisdom teeth evaluated, schedule an exam and x-ray at our Hackensack office. Dr. C will show you the eruption patterns of the 3rd molars so that you can see for yourself how these teeth may be impacting your smile.
Follow Up Care
We also want to make sure you have the proper care even after your wisdom teeth have been removed. Extra caution should be exercised throughout the initial 24 hours after your procedure. This means minimizing bleeding and trying to maintain a blood clot on the site of the extractions. For that reason, you should also avoid drinking carbonated beverages, drinking through a straw, or eating hard foods. Anything that can damage the blood clot during the first part of the healing process should be avoided.
If you have pain that continues to grow more acute, or bleeding that doesn’t stop, you should contact Dr. C’s office for additional instructions.
